This week, BetPrep Sharp Brad Feinberg discusses his top MLB and NFL futures (as of July 6, 2022) with host and BetPrep Editor Michael Salfino of The Athletic and FiveThirtyEight. Futures include the St. Louis Cardinals, Carolina Panthers, Damien Harris, Rashaad Penny, Derek Carr, and more.
Here’s an excerpt from that episode:
Rashaad Penny Under 850.5 Rushing Yards
Brad Feinberg: Okay, I know he was amazing last year. I won a big bet at over 50/1 that he would lead the NFL in rushing yards one of those finals weeks. He had 495 in just the last three weeks. He averaged 6.3 yards per attempt on 119 carries for the season – just a crazy number. You pointed out to me he was second in the NFL to Jonathan Taylor in games with 130-plus rushing yards (four to five for Taylor). But the reason I’m making this bet is the 119 carries – a career-high. He’s just not reliable. If Penny’s healthy, could he be a bell cow even with second-round pick Kenneth Walker? Maybe. But Walker was a second-round pick so they’re going to give him something, I would assume. And again, if Penny gets a lot of carries, would he hold up for 15, 10, or even five games? His history says, “No.”
