This week, BetPrep Sharp Brad Feinberg discusses his top MLB and NFL futures (as of July 20, 2022) and some Juan Soto talk with host and BetPrep Editor Michael Salfino of The Athletic and FiveThirtyEight. Futures include the St. Louis Cardinals, Aaron Rodgers, Chase Young, Trevon Diggs, the Jacksonville Jaguars, Detroit Lions, and more.

Here’s an excerpt from that episode:

Jacksonville Jaguars Over 6 Wins

Brad Feinberg: A few things about this. There should be a major upgrade in coaching. They’ve gone from maybe the worst coach in NFL history, or at least recent history. I can’t think of another one who was worse the last 20 years at least. So however the new staff does, it’s going to be an upgrade and it may be a massive one. And second, you have Trevor Lawrence in Year 2. I know it was rough for him in 2021. But again, how much of that was coaching?

Also, we keep hearing about how dumb the Jaguars were with free agency but I don’t care if they overpaid. Are they better? Of course? If they overpaid by $35 million, it doesn’t matter for this bet. We only want them to add wins this year by getting better. And those players, no matter what they cost, will improve the team. Christian Kirk is an okay No. 2 receiver. Brandon Scherff — I actually think was a good signing, he’s a Pro Bowl guard. That’s going to boost the offense. They get Travis Etienne back in the running game/passing game. They added the No. 1 overall pick to their defensive line. Look, I even made a small bet as we talked about before on the Jaguars to win the division.

I do like the Colts. I think they’re a good team. But the Texans are not a good team and I don’t think the Titans are even trying to win now – they’re sort of in a mini-rebuild. Can I see the Jaguars winning three or four games in the division and nine or 10 games? Yes. Not saying that’s likely but I definitely see them going at least 7-10.
